Have you seen this new style but not sure how to rock it? I’m sharing a simple way to wear the mesh socks trend. Oh, and it’s the perfect way to keep your favorite summer sandals going through fall!
I’m a bonafide creature of habit, which tends to trickle into what I wear. Remember this chambray shirt I couldn’t get enough of? If it’s something I love, I’ll wear it nonstop. I’m also that way with food, TV shows and hobbies. I mean, I’ve been addicted to eating green peppers and doing puzzles for the past four months. Anyway, to challenge myself from time to time, I’ll pick out unique pieces to style and make my own. Recently, I discovered the mesh socks trend and thought it would be a great way to tackle a faux pas. They also allow me to wear my favorite heels into fall, so obviously I’m already obsessed.
A couple years ago, I noticed some very fashionable people wearing cute, frilly socks with sandals and booties. Although it looked cool on them, I knew it wasn’t exactly my style. After all, I hated wearing ruffled socks when I was three and haven’t changed much now going on 30 (told you, creature of habit). I did, however, think that socks were on the verge of having a moment. When I eventually saw a pair of mesh socks, I knew these were more my speed.
I spent a couple lunch hours running around the mall in search of mesh socks. And although stores like Forever 21 and H&M show mesh socks in their online assortments, the trend hasn’t made it to their brick and mortar locations yet. I finally sucked it up and paid the $4 shipping fee for this pair from ASOS.
Since mesh socks alone are quite a statement, I wanted to wear them with something more simple, like this solid black dress. Since the leopard print is subtle on my socks, I matched them with a more bold pattern in my scarf. In my opinion, red will always look best with leopard print, so it was the obvious choice for a pop of color.
What are your thoughts on the mesh socks trend? Is this something you plan on trying this season?
