Recently, I’ve made it my mission to add more stylish bottoms to my wardrobe. Mainly, so I can enhance my work wardrobe and stray away from jeans. When I found these bottoms at The Gap, I became determined to create an outfit styling joggers for work. Also, I’m now determined to buy these pants in every color (there’s 5!).
Last year, my company switched from business casual to, “smart casual,” which means, I’ve become a little lazy with what I wear to work. Since our new policy allows us to wear jeans any day of the week, denim has basically become my new uniform. And although I’d never hate on a classic, it does tend to keep me from putting effort into my ensemble. Also, I’ve worked there for almost four years and figure my co-workers know what I look like on a good day (or I hope so!).
Of course, there’s no problem with embracing the new dress code, but I do tend to subscribe to the idea of, “dressing for the job you want.” As someone with annoyingly high aspirations, I do feel more confident at work when I look professional. I’ve been trying to advance my career for over two years and realized that the extra effort in my appearance, as well as hard work, could go a long way for me.
Taking pride in my appearance for work has definitely given me more confidence and I’m pretty sure I’ll have that corner office in no time (or in 10 years?). What are your favorite things to wear to work? Is there anything you’d like to see me style for the office? Leave me a comment to let me know!
