Hello my friends! I’m back from my week-long vacation and honestly, am currently suffering from a bit of post-beach blues. I had such an amazing time in Oak Island with my family, but it’s always tough to get back into the swing of reality after a successful getaway (which is the reason I’m posting this late)! I did, however, receive a very warm welcome from Cleo when I got back to my apartment, which of course, made me feel so much better!
My family and I spent a majority of our time relaxing at the beach, cooking out and playing games at the house (ps – I am a “Heads Up,” master – in my own mind). We also made several trips to Southport, which is now one of my favorite places on the planet! It’s where the movie Safe Haven was filmed and after we all watched it our first night there, we became determined to find sights from the movie. We had drinks at Old American Fish Company aka Ivan’s Fish Shack (where Katie worked) and found the house that Josh Duhamel’s character lived in. We also went on one of the best ghost tours of the town and ate the most amazing croissants from Burney’s Bakery. If you ever visit Southport, do yourself a favor and treat yourself to one (or two, like I did!).
I was really hoping that I could take pictures during our entire trip to share, but I was really trying to live in the moment and not stress about anything. I did however, get some shots of what I wore during my Oak Island getaway for some beach vacation outfit inspiration! Do you guys have any fun upcoming summer trips planned?
Bonus pics! Might not be the best quality, but here are some more of my favorite snaps from our trip.
How gorgeous is this shot of my Southport from my phone? It is honestly the most charming little town along the Cape Fear River. I could have sat by the water, watching the boats all day. Also, I’m seriously considering moving there!
This is a picture my sister took while we were at Old American Fish Company. It was a restaurant in the movie, but it’s actually this really cool bar right on the water. We sat in oversized wooden chairs while we sipped some adult beverages before eating dinner at Fishy Fishy Cafe.
While taking a walk on the pier, we met a new fisherman friend and this baby hammerhead shark! We thought it was so cool to see up close. Obviously, we made sure he was releasing this little buddy back into the ocean!
I really debated on if I should share this picture from the ghost tour we went on, but I’ve been so excited about it, I couldn’t resist (sorry if it scares you!)! Ever since I was little, I’ve been fascinated with ghost stories, although always terrified to actually see one. The tour guide mentioned how common it was for this dark-haired woman to show up in pictures while at her grave site and I couldn’t believe that she actually did! If you look closely, you can see half of her face. My boyfriend thinks it’s ” just some glare,” but I promise, there is no way it could be anything else! Also, yes, I couldn’t sleep that night and I’m scared now that she’ll come haunt me for posting this on the internet. Fingers are crossed!
