As promised, I’m sharing one more outfit that I’ve planned for my upcoming beach vacation. I have to admit that it’s probably the 17th romper that I now own, but they’re just too perfect to wear for Summer. I not only adore the print of this romper (it is palm print, duh!) but how cute is the tiered top and rope tie at the waist? I don’t think I could have found a more beach ready romper for my week vacation in Southport, NC.
If it seems that I’m overly excited for this trip, it’s because I absolutely am! Of course, I can’t wait to wear some new summer clothes and get some color on these very pale legs, but what I’m most excited about is the quality time that I’ll have with my family. Also, as an amazing bonus, my best friend, Suzan, will be vacationing in the area with her family as well! She was my ride-or-die, partner in crime in college and we still talk via phone almost every day. It’s been almost two years since I’ve seen her, so the thought of an in-person chat on the beach with cold a cold drink in hand makes my heart so, so happy!
As most of you probably know by now, I moved to NC from Pittsburgh over three years ago and only see my family a few times a year. I’ve always been very close to my parents and three sisters, so living this far from my family has been challenging. And although other areas of my life keep me very happy here in Raleigh, with my family more than 500 miles, a part of me is always missing. I’ve been looking forward to this trip and that feeling of completeness for the past six months.
The main item on my Vacation To-Do List, is to really appreciate the time with my family. Unfortunately, these past couple of months have been pretty difficult. For the first time in my life, I’ve witnessed first-hand how quickly life can change and end. I didn’t think it was possible, but these events have made me so much more grateful for each day and the people in my life. So in addition to sunbathing with my sisters, eating my mamma’s cooking and sipping beers with my college bestie, I’ll be taking lots of mental pictures in my mind, waking up too early to sit on the beach in complete silence and of course, ask my dad for one of his huge, strong bear hugs about a thousand times a day!
PS – In order to really focus and enjoy the time with my family next week, I’ve decided not to publish any new posts during my trip. I’d still love for you all to follow my trip via Instagram, @CourtneyFashionista. I’m also hoping to post a recap of my vacation, the week that I’m back in Raleigh :).
