The print and color of this adorable romper from Paisley looked like the epitome of summer style to me, and therefore, had to come home to live in my closet. Of course, this outfit inspired me to think of the upcoming summer season and how I want to make the most of it. I already have so many things to look forward to, with my family beach vacation in less than two weeks and a trip home to Pittsburgh planned for July, but I wanted to set goals for myself to make small self-improvements, in addition to enjoying my summer. In this post I wanted to include what I’d like to check off my Summer 2017 Bucket List, to gain accountability and hopefully some tips from you guys!
1. Make my deck my “Happy Place”
This has been a goal of mine since moving into my apartment three years ago. I couldn’t wait to create my own little outdoor oasis by furnishing the space, covering it with flowers and planting an herb garden. I’ve already set this goal in motion recently by purchasing a new Adirondack chair, this super cute rug from Target and a pretty potted plant for my deck. It still has a ways to go before I can call it a little piece of paradise, but it’s slowly getting there! Also, if I could accomplish this, I’d have the coolest deck in NC!
2. Read at least 3 new books
This one is pretty self-explanatory and one that I really need your help to accomplish. Please, please please comment below with good summer reads! I’m desperate for suggestions. When I was younger, I was a bit of a Rory Gilmore and as I get older she disappears more and more, along with my free time. But nothing beats sitting by a pool with a good book, so let me know of a few good ones to read!
3. Fall back in love with Exercising
Once upon a time, this girl (yes, me) went to the gym 4-5 times a week. Now, I’m lucky if I make it there once. It’s not just the few lbs. that I’d like to shed, but the gym used to be my go-to place to relieve stress and generate good ideas for the blog/life. I’d like to get back into my routine, as well as incorporate new workouts. Since I tend to be a bit of a “Nervous Nelly,” I’ve been thinking more and more of trying Krav Maga. It would probably help me feel better while walking to my apartment at night (which seriously takes two seconds) if I knew some self-defense.
4. Learn how to grill
This goal was definitely inspired by my deck desires, as of course, I need a grill to complete any ideal outdoor space. Since I’m a vegetarian, I questioned how much use I’d get out of one, but of course, Pinterest was there to reassure me of this purchase. I can’t wait to try new grilled tofu and veggie recipes. I’m not sure if this is sad to admit if you’re almost 30, but I’ve never in my life operated a grill. This could be the most difficult thing to check off my bucket list this summer…
5. Plan more Girls Nights
If you think about it, the combination of a cool outdoor living space, deliciously grilled treats and interesting conversations of my recent reads and new ass-kicking skills would make me quite the hostess! Nothing is better than a good night with girlfriends and although busy schedules tend to get in the way, I want to plan many more Girls Nights with my best friends this Summer. I used to do this a lot back home, but since my current apartment is much smaller, my girlfriend gatherings are less frequent (not including Cleo). Entertaining company is something I’ve always enjoyed and I really want to get back into it. I can’t think of a better time than the present!
If you have any good grill recipes, book suggestions or fun workouts, be sure to let me know! Is there anything you’re trying to cross off your Bucket List this Summer?
