Is there anything more fun than shopping for the perfect New Years Eve outfit? It’s by far my favorite day of the year to get dressed and I’m always so excited to style a fun ensemble to wear. This year, I knew there was only one place to shop for my ideal look, my favorite store, Versona! My girlfriend, Danielle of Danielle Davis Style, and I got together recently to browse Versona’s racks in search of sequins, metallics, feathers, leather or anything else that could be deemed show-stop/ball-drop worthy for New Years Eve 2016!
Although there were so many gorgeous pieces to choose from, I was instantly drawn to this gold pleated maxi dress. It’s no secret that I’m a total sucker for maxis and I loved the idea of seperates for the occasion. The gold must have had me feeling Grecian, because I really wanted to wear my hair up with a subtle accessory (PS – I watched this tutorial to style my hair).
I feel like I can’t write a post about the New Year without mentioning my hopes for 2017. I typically try to focus on the present, since worrying about the future can become a bad habit for me, but I did set one goal for the New Year – to make 2017 the year of Courtney Fashionista (sorry, I know that sounds super cheesy).
Next month, I’ll celebrate my three year blogiversary and what started as a distraction from a breakup has become such a strong passion of mine. Unfortunately, this year, I struggled a bit with where I’m at in my life, professionally, and the lack of direction toward job fulfillment. I did a lot of soul searching to try and overcome an intense feeling of inadequacy and blogging was the one thing that made me feel hopeful (and, of course, my parents constant encouragement, they’re seriously so awesome). So this year, my number one priority will be blogging. I want to post more, diversify the content and update my site layout. My goal is to make this a really great space that people enjoy visiting. I know that it takes a crazy amount of dedication to get to full-time blogger status, but I’m ready to put in the work to hopefully, one day achieve it.
In case I haven’t said it enough, I appreciate all of you who already read and support Courtney Fashionista. I’m excited for 2017 and can’t wait to see where the New Year takes me! I hope you all have an amazing holiday! Cleo and I are heading to Pittsburgh tomorrow for Christmas and I can’t wait!!!
